Conducting Safety Research Safely: A Policy-Based Approach for Conducting Research with Peer Review Protected Material

The tool was developed with input on peer review protection from experts on ethics and law at Harvard University, and is comprised of a 7-step checklist to ensure the effective use of peer review protected data. After a successful use of the tool to study allergy safety with voluntary safety reported data the tool was incorporated into Massachusetts General Hospital’s existing Data Use for Performance Improvement policy.
